If I try to talk and act as though I'm perfect
When I sin and make mistakes, in point of fact;
If I try to give the impression of perfection,
You can be very sure the impression is just an act.
If I come across in any way as though I'm better,
Be assured that I've no goodness of my own;
As for myself, I'm just a wretched sinner
For whom the blood of Jesus must atone.
If Jesus hadn't died for my salvation,
I'd be bound for hell as sure as any man,
But even though my life is far from perfect,
God included me in His great salvation plan.
