About Me

My photo
Franklin
I was born 80 years ago (as of 2016 09 28) in the then farming community of Sisson Settlement, a "suburb" of the "town" of Burtts Corner, New Brunswick. I attended the Sisson Settlement School from Grades 1 to 8 as the only student in the grade. I entered Burtts Corner High School as a student in Grade Nine in 1950 and completed high school at Keswick Valley Memorial High School in 1954. I attended the New Brunswick Teachers College in 1954-55, graduating with a First-Class License. After attending many summer and evening sessions over the course of several years, I graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. I taught for thirty-five and one-half years in the public schools in New Brunswick, retiring in December of 1990. My wife and I have been happily married for over sixty years. We have three children, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. My wife , Lillian (Conley) Staples, is also 80. Since my retirement from teaching I have kept active in a number of ways. For the past nearly twenty-five years, I have been responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Keswick Valley Seniors Complex (as a volunteer, of course).
