He Giveth Me Songs In the Night

Blessed be the Lord God, my Maker
Who giveth me songs in the night;
Jehovah— the Almighty — Creator,
The Giver and Sustainer of life.

Oftimes as I lay awake in my bed,
God giveth me songs in the night,
And sometimes the urge to record them
Won’t wait until morning light.

I cannot say that He speaks to me
In words that I can hear,
But in the darkness of night’s quiet solitude,
Of His presence I’m very aware.

When my heart is attuned to His voice,
And I’m walking by faith, not by sight,
The Lord comes softly into my room
And He giveth me songs in the night.
