Lord, help me be a gentle man
In thought and act and speech;
I claim the blood of Christ, Thy Son —
Help me practice what He preached.
Lord, help me be a gentle man,
Considerate and kind;
Not a boorish man or arrogant,
But of noble heart and mind.
Lord, help me be a gentle man
In thought and speech and act;
Help me to deal with those I meet
With diplomacy and tact.
Lord, help me be a gentle man
And do my very best
Not to denigrate or criticize
In fact or seeming jest.
Lord, help me be a gentle man,
Not one who plays the fool,
But one who treats others with respect
And obeys Thy Golden Rule.
