WHAT WE DESERVE
Don’t think you deserve any more than you have,
For we’re guaranteed nothing down here;
And what we do have is not ours to keep
So we shouldn’t hold very much dear.
For material goods one day won’t count for much;
In fact, they’ll be worth nothing at all
When Jesus returns to take up His Bride,
The ransomed who’ve answered His call.
Be thankful, so thankful, if God’s prospered you;
Give credit to whom it is due,
And whether you’ve little or much in this world,
Remember that Christ died for you
And that if you received what you really deserve,
If God’s Son hadn’t done “all things well,”
You’d be without hope, under sure sentence of death (rightly so),
Condemned to a fiery hell.
So don’t think you deserve anymore than you have;
Be content, for many have less!
God gives what we need to get by, day by day,
And He will continue to bless
If we give Him the glory for all that we have,
And thank Him and praise Him each day
For His mercy and goodness and wonderful love,
And be sure to let Him have His way.
